Electric Bikes (EAPC)

Most electric bikes are classified as Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPCs) and are legal to use on UK roads if they:

• Have a maximum motor power of 250W
• Do not assist beyond 15.5 mph (25 km/h)
• Require pedalling for motor assistance

EAPCs can be ridden without a licence, tax, or insurance, and are treated the same as regular bicycles.
